Strengthen environment and economy together
Bavarian Environmental Pact – R+W is in!
The Bavarian Environmental Pact is an agreement between the Bavarian State Ministry and the Bavarian economy. It is based on volunteerism, autonomy and cooperation. The goal is to build reliable partnership on a voluntary basis between the government and the business community including laws and regulations and in this way to protect the natural well-being of all of us. Top representatives from the Bavarian government and the Bavarian economy signed the new “Environmental Agreement for Bavaria – strengthen the environment and economic together” on October 23, 2015 and has started numerous projects.
The mid-sized enterprise R+W Antriebselemente GmbH, located in lower Franconia, has ap-plied for participation in the Environmental Pact for Bavaria with essential voluntary payments and commitments to integrate itself as a part of this agreement.
R+W was able to reduce its energy consumption by 25% through such equipment upgrades as three new frequency-controlled machining centers. Furthermore R+W saves 83% of gas consumption annually by using waste heat from its air compressors. 2/3 of its electricity is also generated by specially installed photovoltaic equipment. These measures make R+W independent of the grid and even able to supply it in some cases.
A celebratory presentation of the certificate by the local district administrator is scheduled for autumn 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic.
To R+W participating in this Environmental Pact is the beginning of series of planned envi-ronmental protection measures. Preparations are underway to achieve ISO 14001 the certifi-cation of environmental management systems. This is scheduled to be completed in 2021. R+W is convinced that everybody can take responsibility for the future of our own hometown.
